On some systems, uninstalling Surrogate Socket may not work correctly.
SYMPTOMS:
When you select uninstall Surrogate Socket from the Add/Remove Programs icon in control panel, you get an error message indicating Surrogate Socket could not be uninstalled and further uninstall attempts fail.
MORE INFORMATION:
If you attempt to uninstall Surrogate Socket while the service is running, the uninstall program cannot properly unregister and delete the Surrogate Socket programs and components.
RESOLUTION:
You will have to manually uninstall Surrogate Socket by following the steps below.
- Stop the Surrogate Socket service
- Open an MS-DOS prompt and change to the Surrogate Socket directory.
- Type ssserver /unregserver
- Type regsvr32 /u ssdaemon.dll
- Type surrogatesocket -uninstall
- Close the MS-DOS prompt
- Using Windows Explorer, delete the Surrogate Socket directory and all its contents
