CornerPost Software Releases Chaperon@Home to Market
Built for home users, Chaperon@Home provides several safety features in addition to website filtering, and is CornerPost’s first product for home and small office users.

Duffield, VA - January 17, 2005 - CornerPost Software, a leader in Internet filtering and content management since 1996, released their new home Internet safety product, Chaperon@Home, today. Chaperon@Home provides several safety features in addition to website filtering, and is CornerPost’s first product for home and small office users. CornerPost’s enterprise products have filtered Internet content for medium and large networks for several years, including branches of government and Fortune 500 companies.

“We have customers that have purchased servers in order to use our enterprise software at home, and after looking at the market very closely, we believe that the home Internet safety market is just now maturing,” said Alan Hughes, CIO of CornerPost Software. “Parents are just now coming to realize the dangers that are on the Internet, and that allowing their children unrestricted Internet access is like letting them walk through the city alone. They also know what we’ve known for years – a filter alone is not enough.”

Chaperon@Home runs on Windows XP and Windows 2000, and brings Internet safety to any Internet account, and any type of connection, including dial-up. Chaperon gives computer owners control over who can use the Internet on their computer. It also blocks inappropriate websites, and sends alerts on inappropriate web use. Chaperon tracks Internet usage for every Internet user so that even if history is erased on a computer, a log of their Internet use still remains. In addition, the Chaperon Personal Information Trap will be available in an update soon that will prevent private information from being sent out via instant messenger. “Sometimes protecting kids from themselves is just as important as protecting them from other people,” added Hughes.

There is no doubt that the Internet has made our world smarter, more connected, more productive. Experience has also proven how dangerous the Internet can be when it is used “unchecked” by good judgment.
