Cause:
- A username and password have been set for Chaperon to use to send mail, but the mail server does not require that a username and password be supplied.
Solution:
In situations such as this, the Chaperon server is most likely already allowed to relay messages via the SMTP server without authentication, so the credentials simply need to be removed.
- Open the Chaperon 2004 control panel and navigate to the Connections tab.
- Click the toolbox button located next to the SMTP Server section. This will open Advanced SMTP Settings.
- Uncheck the box labeled Server Requires Authentication and click Ok.
- Now click the Save button located on the lower right of the Connections tab.
- The Chaperon service will now need to be stopped and then restarted which is done by clicking the Stop/Start Service link located on the Dasboard tab in the Actions section.
